PLES Family Forecast: October 12–16
Welcome back, PLES families! We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. We have lots happening at PLES, including preparations for our Halloween Howl, school photo updates, Remembrance Day planning, and a new Social-Emotional Learning Corner.
🎃 Halloween Howl: Volunteers and Donations Needed
Our Halloween Howl is October 22, and we need your help to make this PTO event a success!
We are looking for donations of individually packaged treats, chips, juice boxes, water, and other snack items. Volunteers are also needed before, during, and after the event.

🧸 Squishy Toys: Please Keep Them Home
We are asking families to please have students keep squishy toys at home. A number of these toys have been leaking or popping on students, and this has become a safety concern at school.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe learning environment for everyone.
💛 Social-Emotional Learning Corner
At school, we’re spending time helping students learn how to work through conflicts in positive, respectful ways. Students are practising staying calm, listening to others, using kind words, and working together to find solutions.
Try This at Home:
Ask your child:“What was a problem you solved today, and how did you work it out?”
Family Tip:
Encourage children to use these simple words:
Stop. Breathe. Talk. Listen. Solve.
Big feelings are okay. What matters is how we handle them!
🕊️ Remembrance Day Photos
As we prepare for our Remembrance Day school ceremony, we would like to honour family members of our students and staff who have served or continue to serve in military roles.
Families wishing to include a photo in our Remembrance Day presentation can email it to Mrs. Hart at kelly.hart@hrce.ca. Please include the family member’s name, relationship to your child, and branch of service, if desired.
