Principal’s Message

Hello PLES Families,

As we move through the final two months of the school year, I want to thank you for being such strong partners with us at the school. Your ongoing support makes a meaningful difference for our students each day.

I also wanted to share a moment of reflection from our playground this week. I had the opportunity to spend lots of time outside daily during playtimes. I was struck by the level of engagement and positive interactions happening across our school grounds. Students were involved in a wide range of activities—four square games, multiple soccer games, basketball, gaga ball, time on both playground structures, and even creative play in the woods, mud, and puddles.

What stood out most was the sense of community. We are seeing students of all ages playing together, older students supporting younger ones, and many examples of inclusion and kindness. There are so many warm moments happening each day that reflect the positive culture we are building together.

Of course, we continue to support students as they navigate the normal social challenges and conflicts that come with play. These are important learning opportunities, and we are committed to helping students build the skills they need in these moments.

Wishing all of our families a restful long weekend.

Take care,
Mr. Fry

Just a few messages from the school:

  • Grade 3 Provincial Assessments: Grade 3 students will be writing the math component of the Provincial Assessments on Wednesday and Thursday this week. It is important that students arrive on time, as testing begins first thing in the morning.
  • National Indigenous Peoples Day: We will acknowledge and this day as a school community. Staff will be supported with resources to guide respectful and meaningful learning.  Based on our self-identification data, we are proud to have students who are Mi’kmaq, Métis, and Inuit. We see this as an opportunity to continue learning together. If families are open to sharing ideas, knowledge, or cultural perspectives, we warmly invite you to connect with us at the office.
  • Water bottles reminder: Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day. We are no longer providing disposable cups from the office.
  • End-of-year activities: Over the next two months, classes will be engaging in a variety of enriching experiences which may include in-school activities or field trips. We appreciate the additional time and effort staff are putting into creating meaningful learning opportunities for students.
  • Planning for next year is underway. We have begun the staffing process for teachers, which will continue throughout the spring and into the summer as we prepare for the upcoming school year.
