Porters Lake Elementary Family Forecast
Week of September 8-12
Congratulates everyone on making it through the first week of school? Our next challenge is the first full week. Remember families that sleep and food are key for both adults and kids to get through the week sucesfully. The first curriculum night was held last week, families who couldn't attend should contact the teacher for handouts.
Other Info
- Parking: If you need to drop off or pick up a student, please do not park in the school's driveway or staff parking spots. The driveway is a "drop and go lane."
- Vice-Principal Position: The school is still working on filling the Vice-Principal position and will notify families when someone is hired.
- Outdoor Time: Students will be outside unless there is heavy rain, temperatures below -25 degrees, or icy conditions. Students should dress for the weather and bring a change of clothes for grades PP-6. All clothing, including sweaters, jackets, footwear, and hats, should be labeled.
- Terry Fox Run/Walk: The run/walk will be on Tuesday, September 16th. A special guest from the Terry Fox Foundation will be visiting to run the assembly. Donations can be made online at https://schools.terryfox.ca/PortersLakeElementary
- Demographic Form Updates: On September 9, the Demographic Updates Form will be available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Every family needs to update this form to ensure all information about their child, including contacts, medical information, consents, and demographics, is current.
Stand Up Against Bullying Day Stand Up Against Bullying Day is on Thursday, September 11. On this day, the school will celebrate inclusivity, kindness, and friendship.
