Principal’s Message

Hello PLES Families,

I hope you had a restful weekend and enjoyed time with your loved ones.  I feel grateful for the families, students, and staff who make Porter's Lake Elementary such a fantastic school. It’s a privilege to be part of this wonderful community.

Transportation Update

On Friday afternoon, we experienced a late bus due to two routes being combined, which caused a delay. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If you have questions about transportation:

  • Call the school directly — we may have updates.
  • Contact the HRCE Transportation line at 902-431-4723.
  • Use BusPlanner to track buses (note: some buses are currently experiencing technical difficulties).

Student Voice & Cafeteria Use

Last week, we held class meetings to hear directly from students about their experiences using the cafeteria. We gathered valuable feedback on both the positives and challenges. More meetings are planned this week, and we’ll use this input to guide our plans for reintroducing cafeteria use with our older students. Student voices are essential in shaping our decisions.

Reminders & Updates

Hot Lunch Orders
School lunches for October 19 – November 1 must be ordered by 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15. Late orders cannot be accepted.

Water Bottles
Please ensure your child brings a water bottle each day. We have small cups available if needed.

Toys at School
Students bring toys at their own risk. With many transitions and activities, toys can be lost or broken. We want to avoid disruptions to learning caused by missing or damaged items.

End-of-Day Pick-Up Window (1:45 PM – 2:10 PM)
This is a busy time for student dismissals. To help us ensure a smooth process:

  • Arrange pick-ups in advance.
  • If picking up early, please arrive before 1:45 PM.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Guidelines

  • Visitor Check-In: Please stop at the main office when entering the school.
  • Student & Item Assistance: Our staff are happy to help guide students and deliver dropped-off items.
